Installing Your Light Kit

To Trick Out your Vanquish Origin Classic, you'll need just a few tools:

  • Allen Drivers 1.5mm & 2mm
  • Needle Nose Pliers
  • Nippers

Installing Your Attack Headlights

Top Tip: Do one Headlight at a time.

Carefully stick one piece of the Mounting Tape to the Headlight as shown.

Stick Mounting Tape to Headlight

Then stick the other side of the Mounting Tape to the Headlight Bucket. Note: The color of the Headlight Bucket may vary depending on production run - it might be white or it might be black.

It should look like this...

Headlight SubAssembly

Using the Mounting Screws, attach each Headlight to your Vehicle Body. Be careful not to overtighten the screws which could strip the threads.

Screw Headlights to Vehicle Body

Use Zip Ties and a Zip Tie Mount to route the Headlight cable cleanly.

Installing Your Tail Lights

Feed each Tail Light into the rear of your Vehicle Body.

Then using the screws and brackets that came with your Vehicle, secure each Tail Light to the rear of your Vehicle Body.

Installing Your Red Tail Light Lenses

Use a fine-tipped object to apply a couple of tiny dabs of glue just inside the chrome tail light rings. If your glue bottle has a fine tip, you can use that. If not, you can use something like a toothpick.

Installing Your Rock Lights

Your Light Kit includes two pieces that look a bit like a butterfly. Each is actually a pair of Rock Light Buckets. Using Nippers, separate each butterfly into two Rock Light Buckets.

Separate Rock Light Buckets

Use one Rock Light pair for the Front and use the other Rock Light pair for the Rear.

Top Tip: Use one of the Mounting Screws to hold a Bucket and Rock Light together steady as you mount them to your Chassis.

Installing your Lights

Tail Light Grill

We've included a handy Template Sticker to help align your Tail Light Grill to your Vehicle Body. You'll first need to prepare it for use by using a fine tool such as a hobby knife to remove the two Screw Hole circles and the Cable Hole circle.

Prepare the Template Sticker

Align the Template Sticker to the rear of your Vehicle Body like so. Notice the notch which indicates the bottom edge of the Template. You can use this to help center the Template horizontally.

Align the Template Sticker

Peel the backing from the Template Sticker and carefully adhere the Sticker to the Body.

Stick the Template to the Body

Using a Body Reamer, ream holes for the two Mounting Screws.

Ream Holes for Mounting Screws

And ream a hole for feeding the LED Cable through the Vehicle Body.

Ream Hole for LED Cable

You might want to clean up the burrs on holes from the inside of the Body. Take care not to enlarge the holes when you are doing this.

Clean Up Holes

This is how the holes should look.

Tail Light Holes Done

At this point the Template Sticker has done its job and we can now remove it. Now is a good time to remove any adhesive residue the Template Sticker might have left behind.

Template Sticker Removed

Now we're ready to feed the Tail Light Cable through the bigger hole.

Feed the Tail Light Cable through Vehicle Body

Peel off the backer from the Red Attack Strip Tail Lights and carefully stick them to the Vehicle Body.

Stick Tail Light Strip to Vehicle Body

Put a Washer on one of the Mounting Screws, and feed those through the Tail Light Grill and Vehicle Body.

Screw Tail Light Grill to Vehicle Body

Use needle nose pliers to hold the Mounting Nut steady on the inside of the Body while screwing on the Grill from the outside. Be careful not to cross the threads.

Steady the Mounting Nut

This is how the mounted Tail Light Grill will look from the inside.

Attack Headlights

Using a pointy tool, eyeball and carefully mark the centers of Headlights.

Mark Headlight Centers

Using a body reamer tool, ream out holes for the Attack Headlights. The holes should be just large enough for the LED to shine through unobstructed without exposing too much else.

Ream Holes for Headlights

Using a hobby knife, clean up the burrs on the inside of the Headlight Holes.

Clean Up Inside of Headlight Holes

When this step is done, it should look about like this. This step is important to give a clean mounting surface for sticking the Attack Headlights.

Headlight Holes Cleaned Up

Unscrew and remove the Front Grill.

Unscrew Front Grill

Unscrew and remove the Hood Bracket.

Unscrew Hood Bracket

At this point, the cleared out hood area should look like this.

Hood Area Cleared Out

Peel off and apply a Mounting Sticker to each Attack Headlight.

Peel and Apply Mounting Stickers

For each Headlight, peel off the other side of the Mounting Sticker and carefully stick the Attack Headlight to the inside of your Vehicle Body.

Stick Headlights to Body

This is how your Attack Headlights will look when they are installed.

Headlights Installed

Re-attach the Hood Bracket to the Body, taking care to route the Headlight Cable through the Hood Bracket to keep things tidy. Then re-attach the Front Grill.

Front Cable Routing

Similarly, route the Tail Light Cable through the rear plastic bracket.

Rear Cable Routing

Here's how it will look when layed out like an open-faced sandwich. Stick the Cable Clip inside the Body for clean cable management. The Headlights and Tail Lights each plug into the Attack Light Regulator, and then that plugs into the Receiver

Connections

Done! Sit back and admire your handiwork.
